Predipet Canine - at home cancer screening test kits for Dogs

Predipet Canine is a test for measuring the presence of tumors/cancer in dogs.
How does it work? Our test measures Thymidine Kinase 1 (TK1) concentration. The enzyme TK1 is released into the bloodstream in case of increased cell growth and cell turnover. Therefore, an elevated TK 1-level strongly indicates tumor cell growth – cancer.

We also measure CRP as part of the calculation of the so-called CRI (Cancer Risk Index) – a composite value indicating the likelihood that an animal (dog) has a tumor disease. Here’s how it works:
🔬 TK1 + CRP = CRI
CRP (C-reactive protein) is a biomarker for inflammation.

CRI – Cancer Risk Index:
This index takes both TK1 and CRP levels into account in an AI-based algorithm that generates an overall risk score. This makes the test more accurate than relying on TK1 levels alone.

Also detects solid tumors

There are other tests for measuring TK1 on the market. Those mainly detect hematologic malignancies – e.g. leukemia and lymphoma. But these cancers constitute only approx. seven percent of all cancers. However, solid tumors are often missed by traditional TK1 analysis. This is because they measure the reaction rate of the enzyme. In the blood of dogs with solid tumors, however, a major part of the enzyme is inactive.

Unique on the market

What makes Predipet test unique is that we measure the TK1 protein by an immunodiagnostic method, which means that we use antibodies that bind to TK1. Subsequently it can be used to detect various forms of tumor cell growth.

Applications for Predipet Canine

1. Diagnostics

When suspecting cancer Predipet Canine can be a key factor in the diagnostic process. TK1 can be detected in blood serum even before the patient displays clinical symptoms. Therefore, the test can be crucial for early detection and treatment, which is essential for a good outcome.

2. Monitoring therapy

Predipet Canine is also a powerful tool for monitoring cancer treatment. A simple blood test provides an answer to whether tumor growth is decreasing – thus determining if the patient responds to the treatment. This provides basis for deciding if the therapy should be continued or if it is better for the patient to discontinue treatment.

3. Screening

Cancer is as common in companion animals as in humans. And the risk increases with age. Screening with Predipet Canine is recommended for dogs over a certain age, normally 6 years age, especially for breeds prone to specific cancer types. Additionally, female dogs over eight years old face a 30 percent risk of developing mammary tumors.
